The world’s largest full-vehicle and component testing and validation technologies and services show

Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart ended after three successful days on 23 May 2019. More than 480 exhibitors presented current products and solutions for testing and validation technologies and services for complete vehicles and components. The Beckhoff trade show presentation focused on the EtherCAT measurement modules of the ELM series, using which high-performance measurement technology can be integrated directly into the control system. Further highlights included the TwinCAT Analytics software tools for seamless data recording and fast data analysis as well as TwinCAT Vision for integrating image processing into the control platform.

The highly accurate, fast and robust ELM modules are suitable for a wide range of applications in automotive testing environments, which could be realised previously only with the help of expensive special devices. In addition to the Basic line for highly dynamic applications, Beckhoff is also launching the new Economy line, a cost-effective device line for high-precision measurements with lower dynamics. Martin Podrouschek, Product Manager Fieldbus Systems, adds: “In process sequences and test applications, a wide variety of different signals as well as both slow processes in the second range or dynamic processes in the kHz range have to be recorded. The Beckhoff measurement system is ideally suited to such a wide range of tasks. For this purpose, the optimum interconnection of hardware and software modules offers a complete and integrated measurement chain – with sensor connection to I/O modules in IP 20 and IP 67, the high-performance EtherCAT and EtherCAT G fieldbus systems, the TwinCAT on-premises software for the integration of engineering, PLC, motion control, safety, visualisation, communication and measurement technology as well as control-system-integrated cloud connection.”
